In a study published in 2011, researchers polled those under 35 to find out their thoughts on estate planning. 32% of the respondents said they would rather work on taxes, have a root canal, or give up sex for a month that do estate planning. Wow! That is some real dread right there.
Why would that be? Fear of our own mortality? Not knowing who to contact or where to get started? Afraid of getting trapped in a law office and getting tagged with a big fee? Who knows, maybe some of all of the above. To conquer these concerns, we designed a way to take the fear and the pain out of the process, by adding wine.
What started as a neighborhood evening get together with a few bottles of wine in someone’s living room, to learn a little about the basics and have a chance to ask questions has now gotten a COVID 19 redo, like so many other things have. So now we’ve gone virtual and scheduled a virtual wine and wills. Good news is you can dress however comfortably you want and won’t need a mask. Socks are totally optional. And you don’t even have to go anywhere. Bad news is you’ll have to furnish your own glass of wine.
So if you want to listen to a couple of experienced estate planners discuss the nuts and bolts, and ask questions about the estate planning process, here’s your chance. All you have to do is join us for an interesting discussion via Zoom. And open that bottle of wine.
